Brendan Rodgers insists Luis Suarez is not for sale and will join up with Liverpool’s squad Down Under tonight, writes the Sunday People .

And the Kop boss rubbished suggestions his star striker could go AWOL.

It will be the first time Rodgers has had face-to-face talks with the player since the Uruguayan dropped the bombshell that he wants to quit Anfield.

Club officials, who turned down a £30million offer from Arsenal, will inform Suarez in Melbourne that he is going nowhere.

But despite the hard line being taken, it is feared that Suarez will spell out his determination to leave in order to play Champions League football.

The Gunners are keeping tabs on the situation and are ready to up their bid to £40m with add-ons included.

Suarez – who will fly to Australia from Montevideo – was keen to join Real Madrid, but they have not made an offer, leaving Arsenal in pole position.

“Luis is on the plane and we will see him in Melbourne,” said Rodgers following yesterday’s 2-0 win over an Indonesia XI in Jakarta.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him. He’s a player I’ve always supported. I understand the situation but the bottom line is he’s employed by the football club.

“The money goes into his bank at the end of every month so he should be here.

“If he’s not there, which I very much doubt, there will be a problem. He will be there. He’s a good guy.”
