My dad’s better than Mourinho: Mancini’s son defends City boss against critics
Forget the Special One, Roberto Mancini knows more about football than any other manager ... at least that's what his son says
Roberto Mancini's footballer son Andrea reckons his dad knows more about football than Jose Mourinho.
The City boss led the Sky Blues to their first league title since 1968 last season. But the former Italy international has come in for criticism this season after his side's disappointing Champions League performances.
Andrea Mancini, who is on the books at Real Valladolid having been released by City last summer, thinks his dad is superior to the self-appointed Special One.
Not so special: Mancini's son says Mourinho is more of a motivator
When asked about any similarities between Roberto and Real boss Mourinho, who face each other in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Andrea said: "They aren't alike. My father was a player for many years and you notice this.
"He has a lot of experience and knows more about football than Mou.
"Mourinho is more psychological, more of a motivator, he knows how to manage the minds of the players. The ideal coach would be a mixture of the two."
Of the troubles facing his dad this season, the 20-year-old added: "I don't understand the criticism.
"He's just become Premier League champion with City, which they haven't won for 44 years. I don't know what more he has to do."
