Liverpool strolled to victory against an Indonesia XI thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho Raheem Sterling.

Like just about every other Premier League side, The Reds headed out to Asia for their pre-season campaign, and faced a team of the best the host nation had to offer.

Steve Gerrard - who recently signed a new Liverpool contract - made his return to action after shoulder surgery curtailed his 2012/13 season

Unsurprisingly, Brendan Rodgers' side dominated and were it not for the woodwork could have won by a larger margin.

Sterling, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto all hit the frame of the goal as Liverpool dominated their hosts.

Liverpool were without Luis Suarez who is still on extended leave following his Confederations Cup duty, but when he catches up with the team in Asia next week he'll tell them he wants to go to Arsenal.

Coutinho opened the scoring on 10 minutes when he burst into the box and calmly rolled the ball under Kurnia Meiga.

The Reds continued to control the game and missed a host of chances before Sterling was introduced among sweeping changes.

Oussama Assaidi unselfishly squared for Sterling to tap into an empty net on 88 minutes to wrap up a routine pre-season win.

Liverpool next travel to Australia to take on Melbourne Victory next Wednesday.
