Alan Pardew has been warned he risks "a problem" at Newcastle with so many French players in his team.

Former Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier fears the influx could have a negative effect as the Magpies battle against relegation.

The former France national coach said: "The Newcastle dressing room will be totally unbalanced.

"You can't stop French speaking French together. There'll be problems."

Pardew sealed the £6.7million signing of Mapou Yanga Mbiwa from Montpelier last night.

He is also set to sign Nancy left-back Massadio Haidara and Bordeaux forward Yoan Gouffran. Both players have arrived for medicals.

And once THOSE deals are concluded Newcastle hope to tie up a cut-price deal for for another Frenchman, midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

It would bring the total of Gallic stars at the club to 11 with Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Romain Amalfitano, Sylvain Marveaux, Gabriel Obertan, Mathieu Debuchy and Mehdi Abeid already there.
